McGEOCH LIGHTS UP NEW QUEEN ELIZABETH CLASS AIRCRAFT CARRIERS

 

Based on two major contracts secured earlier this year and valued in excess of £3M, McGeoch Technology Limited will supply all the general and emergency lighting for the new Queen Elizabeth (QE) Class Aircraft Carriers including the distribution panels necessary to power and control the lighting. In all, over 24,000 individual units for general illumination below deck and in cabins, corridors, compartments and hangars together with around 500 lighting distribution panels will be supplied by McGeoch in a six-year delivery programme beginning in January 2010.

All the lights will be backed up by battery powered emergency units also supplied by McGeoch. Whilst based on the already highly successful and proven design of the Type 45 Destroyer lighting which McGeoch pioneered and is also supplying in a rolling delivery programme, te design of the distribution panels has been specifically developed by the company and is unique to the new aircraft carriers.
